A gripping tale about Kurdish journalist and writer Behrouz Boochani who fled the Iranian regime, seeking asylum in Australia, only to be exiled to the offshore immigration detention centre Manus Island in Papua New Guinea. Directed by Simon V Kurian, with parts of the documentary secretly filmed inside the detention centre, we see Behrouz as he navigates life in detention, and leads the resistance to indefinite detention. And finally his asylum bid in New Zealand and his life in Christchurch, as a free man.
“This film is about a long struggle to expose and challenge a system which is designed to dehumanise people who flee dictatorship and war.' Behrouz Boochani
