The Story

A colourful and whimsical film about award-winning director of Late Marriage Dover Koshashvili's childhood memories of the Georgian immigration to Israel and what the time looked, sounded, smelt, tasted, and felt like.

A whimsical film that follows two simultaneous love stories developing under old patriarchal rules in a new Israel. Zaza, a 10-year-old boy who lives under his father’s harsh control, loves Zehava, as they bond in a magical world created by the cards they collect about distant places. Medea, the beautiful soldier, dreams of continuing her medical studies in Romania, while being in love with Vaja, the charming neighbourhood thug, who uses the old customs to deny Medea her independence. Watching over is the colourful grandfather, who struggles to preserve the laws of patriarchy, in a society that exists as an isolated island within the new state of Israel.
