Widely known as ‘the Blondin of his Generation’, Philippe first came to notice with his high-wire walk between the twin towers of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, and later for his walk between the twin towers in New York, described as ‘the Crime of the Century’. Philippe visited Australia for the 1973 Nimbin Aquarius Festival. Before his departure, he walked between the Pylons of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, which Sydney Artist Martin Sharp described as ‘the Spirit of Nimbin Conquers the Symbol of the Industrial Revolution’.
