Join gonzo Aussie filmmaker Andrew Leavold (The Search for Weng Weng, Pub: The Movie) on his wildest adventure yet. Watch as he parachutes onto a film set in Wild West Africa and into the starring role of a slavery-themed action movie, all the while prepping his own four-foot kung fu remake of The Harder They Come with fellow gonzo filmmaker, Ghanian director Samuel K. Nkansah, aka Ninja.

Here in Kumasi, Ghana’s second-largest metropolis and sprawling home to more than 3 million people, Andrew is adopted by a passionate filmmaking community that are keeping the Kumawood dream alive after the collapse of the African film market by producing $50 movies that go straight to YouTube.

Film Safari Ghana mixes film clips, interviews, and cinema-verite footage to create a vivid, vibrant and violent postcard from one of cinema’s final frontiers. It chronicles the history of Ninja and Ghana’s crazed DIY digital film scene, and the birth of a partnership between two of the world’s most maverick directors.

Only on Friday 11 October, 9:15pm. Tickets on sale now.
